Storage Kidbrooke Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Kidbrooke in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Kidbrooke is committed to conducting all of its activities ethically, responsibly, and in full compliance with applicable legislation relating to modern slavery.
Our zero-tolerance approach
Storage Kidbrooke operates a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, debt bondage, and child labour. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in such practices and we are committed to taking prompt and decisive action where concerns are identified.
All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to uphold this zero-tolerance approach in their day-to-day work and business decisions. Any behaviour that is inconsistent with this position is treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in the termination of employment or business relationships.
Our business and supply chains
Storage Kidbrooke provides storage and related services and relies on a range of suppliers for facilities management, construction and maintenance, security, cleaning, equipment, technology, and professional services. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can exist in any sector and at multiple tiers of the supply chain, particularly where there is the use of temporary labour, subcontracting, or sourcing from higher-risk regions.
We work to identify and reduce these risks through careful supplier selection, ongoing monitoring, and maintaining strong relationships based on transparency and accountability.
Supplier standards and audits
We expect all suppliers to comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and to adopt standards aligned with our zero-tolerance policy on modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding processes, we assess prospective suppliers on their ethical and labour practices, including their own policies and controls to prevent modern slavery.
Where appropriate, we require suppliers to confirm that they do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour, that their workers are employed of their own free will, and that they have procedures to ensure fair recruitment, working conditions, and pay. We reserve the right to conduct supplier audits, which may include site visits, document reviews, and interviews with management and workers, either directly or through qualified third parties.
If a supplier fails to meet our standards or refuses reasonable requests for information or audit, we will take proportionate action, which may include requiring corrective measures within a defined timeframe or ultimately ending the business relationship.
Reporting channels and whistleblowing
Storage Kidbrooke encourages anyone who becomes aware of, or suspects, modern slavery in our operations or supply chains to report their concerns as soon as possible. Concerns may be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers, senior management, or designated compliance contacts. We also support the use of independent whistleblowing mechanisms where available.
Reports may be made confidentially and, where legally permissible, anonymously. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, whether or not it is ultimately substantiated. All reports are taken seriously, assessed promptly, and, where appropriate, investigated. Where we identify a risk or instance of modern slavery, we will act to protect affected individuals, cooperate with relevant authorities, and implement remedial and preventive measures.
Training and awareness
To support the effectiveness of our approach, we provide training and guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier oversight. This training covers the nature of modern slavery, potential indicators, our reporting channels, and individual responsibilities.
We also communicate our expectations to key suppliers, encouraging them to implement equivalent training and awareness programmes within their own organisations and supply chains.
Continuous improvement and annual review
Storage Kidbrooke recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuously improving our policies, due diligence processes, and supplier engagement in response to emerging risks, regulatory developments, and stakeholder feedback.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with best practice. As part of this review, we assess the effectiveness of our actions, including supplier audits, training initiatives, and the operation of our reporting channels. Where necessary, we update our procedures and take additional steps to strengthen our controls.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Kidbrooke and constitutes the organisation’s Modern Slavery Statement for the relevant financial year.
